Glad we have free trade between US and Canada. Taxes and duty like that suck!
We only pay 5% GST and maybe 2% duties

Importing parts from usa sucks but is usually still cheaper than buying in germany.

I ordered wossner rods with APR L19 bolts (stronger than 2000 series used on most other rods) from Germany for EUR 920 including shipping. With current eur/usd exchange rate that's around 950 usd. Thus, sending, buying from US for me is not an option this time. Your comment about cup cars made me feel little bit better However, I agree that it's better to do everything right the first time! Thank you all for the responses.

Yes buying from the US attracts a 20% tax/duty loading. Only thing I'll add is the going rate here for a good S2 crank and damper is around $200 and a good 2.7 head is around $300, when you can find them.

If you've got 3.0 cranks/dampers available for $200, PM me...

I haven't looked out for one for 2 or 3 years. No one builds 3.0 turbos here now so there's not a lot of demand. 968 blocks are like rocking horse poop though.

When I spoke to Wössner years ago about their rods they said they could handle around 500 hp.
Doesn't mean they cannot handle more and maybe they have changed their position, but that is what they said at the time. For a higher hp build I would choose the Carrillo's.

Good information Duke! I´m going to buy new connecting rods for my 16V-build. Will reuse the original 944S-pistons but choose 2mm shorter rods to lower the CR, Carrillo or Pauter then

Have a nice weekend

That's enough for me.

Was wondering when those would come out into use.
I only recently discovered Molnar a few weeks ago with the possibility of having cranks made. Nice rods it seems, and the price is right.

If I end up making a 3.0 turbo...it'll be these rods.

I plan on using them in my 968 race engine

There is a good reason why most use 2000 not L19..

L19 will corode like crazy you can only touch it with gloves and avoid exposing it to air.

Most avoid these and either use 2000 or range above L19, custom age etc .

Did not know that. When you say that they "corode like crazy" - what does is mean - do you have to change them every couple of years? Can you treate them with something when installing to reduce it?

My rod bolts are around 50g and they don't corrode.
