At the moment been thinking of getting wossner pistons & rods. It's just on paper at the moment. Lacking time to touch the car. I haven't touched it since the night the clutch went. I'm hoping for some time near Nov.
At the moment, might pull block again. and revise some leaks which i cannot get to with out stripping out half of the bottom. and since i have it out i may as well swap out pistons and rods. as well as change the clutch and possibly put a .63 turbine housing on the turbo instead of the .82.
You'll like the .63 much better, and likely will see same boost up to 6800, unless you're running idiot boost - know your not - lowering the tq curve will make your car faster - more fun where it counts.
One Porsche specialist here in the UK had sets of rods from 2 or 3 different companies and he said they were so similar that he wouldn't be surprised if they had originated from the same manufacturer. I think Turbotim sourced his rods from a company down in Oz.

From what I remember, Carillos are made in USA, here in Los Angeles area.
Wossners are of course from the fatherland.
The "H-beam" rod style was pretty much invented by Carillo back in the 1970s and was copied by the other brands after the patent expired...basically for the reason that "it doesn't look like a stock A/I beam so it must be better". Carillo has quite a reputation for quality and precision, which carries a price. Happily the 944 rods are no more expensive than any other set of rods they make (!)
I had a set of Carillo 944 rods for a while and marveled at them, they were (while much lighter than stock of course) quite heavy and substantial feeling parts.
For the lower-dollar brands (Eagle, Scat, etc) there is some speculation, probably valid, that the rod blanks are made in the same Chinese factory and then sent to the respective brand house for finish work/sizing.

I picked up a brand new boxed set after someone changed their plans. They fit right in with my other garage ornaments .
Good food for though.
My thoughts with wossner is that they're German & well known brand. also very reasonably priced at $900
Thanks for the link Patrick will shoot them an email.
George - I originally wanted the .63 but TiAL stopped production with them for a bit so couldn't get my hands on one at the time. at the moment on 98ron cannot pass 18psi. on e85 on 18psi i've maxed my 80lb injectors at 5800 rpm
If i do upgrade fuel system i may push past 20psi on e85 25psi i'm suppose to be limited to.
The cam should help breath top end so i dont think the .63 with higher boost levels will suffer to much.
Oliver rods are typically the lightest, but the most expensive. Here's a pic of their extreme turbo rods for a Mitsubishi 1000+hp motor.
Cut/Paste from my EVO ownership days:
You mean engine builds here? That would be because:
(1) They cost more. Oliver's 4G63 rods are basically custom pieces that are CNC machined from solid billet (a more expensive process). It's easy to design a strong, heavy rod. It isn't easy to design a strong, lightweight rod. Olivers weigh less than Manley.
(2) Those who build engines for NASCAR, Lingenfelter, Busch Grand National, and other applications where Oliver rods are commonly used don't typically participate in this forum.
I would say the wossner combo would suit my motor best. As i'm not looking for any crazy 500rwhp numbers. only 490whp So i don't need anything overkill really. even though everything else sort of is..
only reason i'm considering this is because 1. I dont have forged rods, i got the crappy cast ones in my block. & 2. i have slight damage to my pistons from the valve/timing belt incident.
