Never had working air con in my car, think I'll remove the compressor and evaporator when I fit the bigger turbo. Never turn the radio on either, prefer to listen to the exhaust.

The electric a/c units available for the 911 are interesting though:
https://www.classicretrofit.com/prod...c-911-full-kit

It would be great if these were adapted for the 951 / 952.
I have a customer with a Euro/RoW-spec 964 RS with one of those UK-made electric A/C kits. It's a slick setup, but I decided to check the current draw with the electric compressor running: it draws a full 60 amps! This car had an upgraded alternator installed, but the 964 RS also uses a larger under-drive pulley for the alternator, which meant that the system was actually discharging the battery at idle! I warned the customer to not make a habit of sitting in LA traffic with the A/C running . . . .

If Jon Mitchell was reporting 417 fwhp & 398 lb/ft with the following, I think should be doing better than that:

https://forums.tipec.net/viewtopic.p...=14653&p=95352

(1) Ball bearing turbos (KKK type hotside);
(2) 3 inch exhaust system (modified Fabspeed);
(3) dual port wastegate;
(4) electronic boost controller;
(5) 72 lbs injectors;
(6) Vitesse MAF;
(7) Piggyback fuel computer;
(8) 3 bar fuel pressure reg;
(9) one of our intercoolers.

Everything else bone stock (cam, intake, cylinder head & crossover).

Chris that electric a/c wouldn't be viable for me - we tried FOUR different alternators before we found a tiny one which worked with the dry-sump system & power steering (Mitsu 120A).
That's a huge current draw.
Racing cars use small electric a/c systems - ok they're not to luxury car standard, but I wonder if there is an electric a/c system from the motorsport world which could be adapted for road & track sports car?
I seem to recall that the C6 Corvettes at Le Mans had a very lightweight electric a/c system.

Well I did say 440 bhp, and I don't know if Jon said how much boost was being run. I think some people used to run 20-22 lbs boost back in the day, but that was probably for a good time rather than a long time. Interesting reading that old thread though.

Nice work. Should be a great fun car which is the main reason for doing all this. Sean who did all the work said "It reminds me of your old Slate grey metallic car."
Look forward to seeing the results.

I'd buy the turbo with a 3.2 engine, that I was offered. After other people had sunk a load of money into it.

My stock 8v was old and leaking so badly that I knew I'd have to take it out to rebuild it... then I came up with a hilarious idea to do a 16v turbo engine on a budget! I tried to keep it reasonable and it wasn't brutal, but still expensive. I made do with used parts when I could and did all the work myself. I also have a couple other track cars that kept me driving during the build. I'm not really interested in testing the limits of what it can do as I'm pretty entertained with the 370rwhp that it dyno'd at, and I think that power level is sustainable without breaking too much. 10 years ago, I could keep up with a lot of the new cars at the track, but modern stuff is so fast that it's not worth trying to keep up in the arms race. 951s are really old now and it's ok for me to just go have fun and drive it home.

Default Gorgeous car. Gorgeous everything

Penguinracer,

I don't think may car ever looked at nice as yore's looks. All these beautiful parts, all brand new. I wish you the best. I think we may share the same original color, Zermatt Silver.

Penguinracer,
Breathtaking and clearly thought out.
Thank you for sharing so much detail as well as the list of all involved.....just amazing, along with your perspective/philosophy of your desired end result.
Hopefully all will go to plan!

Has anyone managed to get a response out of Ferrea lately? I'm interested set of their super alloy valves for a 968 head as they are potentially cheaper than the Porsche items but cannot get a response out of them, its almost time to sit up and call them in the middle of the night.

I don’t know if he’s still there, but try Emmanuel Garcia.

$110/valve now! Supposedly approx $60 back in 2019, still cheaper than Porsche valves I guess.
