Wink Ignition help

Hey guys,
I want to make sure everything is in good condition before I slap a set of Guru chips in my car.

So my next project is to replace ignition junk. I need some help with wires and coil! Which ones to get ect. I purchased a set of NGK Iriduim ex plugs allready and getting ready to purchase a bosch cap/rotor.

What you guys think? Either that or I could just purchase lindsey racings kit huh

Hey tony,
Nothing special M8? No taylor/ nolgoy wires? No msd blaster coil?

The NGK's should work right? I think you were the one that said to use them, in another post.

No.

Use new stock components, which will easily support 400RWHP.

But... use NGK R plugs (I use 1 heat range colder than stock gapped to .028").

Get the coil, wires, cap, and rotor, from Bosch (excellent stuff).

You can use Tayolor wires but I wouldn't spend a ton on the stuff.... Beru is excellent and their plug connectors are better than anything out there.

Hey tony,
I think i might just get the Beru wires and cap from lindsey.

The NGK plugs I've ordered are BPR6EIX. They are iridum plugs. Don't know how much diffrent than they are from the R's your talking about.

I just got the Lindsey kit a while ago. Seems to work fine, probably not any better than all OEM would be, but I like those blue wires I have now

What about Magnacore wires?? They seem not only better, but a good deal cheaper than OEM....

Magnecor. Two thumbs up. I use them because they're the recommended plug wire for the SDS system. They're well made and have performed their very simple function reliably. I'll echo the recommendation for the stock ignition components though.

I use an MSD 6T with blaster 2 coil and Magnecor cables. It all works fine. Following the recent thread about plugs, I'm going to change mine as per Tony's recommendation

FWIW i bought a set of the magnecor cables and they worked fine. I didnt particularly like the look and seal of the boots that fit over the plugs and sure enough the first time I pulled one off the plug the cable end separated from the cable within the boot. I was not impressed with the durability factor and have since replaced them with a new set of Beru based 8mm cables.

Due to the low cylinder-count and low redlines of these engines, the ignition system is not a limitation in anyway. No one has been able to extract any more performance with an ignition upgrade. Just get stock or comparable-to-stock components and save your money.
