Default Old school turbo's.

With all the love on here for BB, GT etc turbo's I wondered how many running the older turbo setups want to convert to a newer turbo ? Coming from 80's turbo cars I quite like the wait for it then wallop power delivery for my weekend toy, and to be honest if I wanted more than 350-400 bhp I probably be looking at a different platform for road use.

I don't have any plans - I like the K26/8 for what it is. I do like the old school turbo lag then kick - you learn how to drive and take it into account. For example, had a great run with some 911s this fall on Hwy 151 in the Blueridge Parkway. Harrowing switchbacks. You can floor the accelerator before you take the turns and hit full spool after the apex - with my car's handling and insane surge coming out of the corners, ate everybody for lunch. Like you said, if I need something with higher horsepower, I'll buy a car with it out of the box as a starting point.

Well you can have both. Due to the positioning of our turbos and low c/r we're never going to have a modern day linear response without major mods.

What's your road car Patrick, I know the feds are strict on speeding down there but there must be quiet places to have some fun on the road ?

lol....you'd fall over backwards if you saw my road car. It's a 1996 Falcon i6 that has a ding in every panel. I treat it with no respect and almost utter contempt but it keeps chugging along....just. The best thing about it being an Auto is practising left foot braking. Apart from that it's good for nothing. If I owned a nice road car it just gets me in trouble...and yes, the road rules, laws, crappy Aussie drivers, puppet cops, brainwashed media and corrupt Govt mean it's hard to enjoy a nice car down here in my experience.

I don't know that car but I hope it's got a V8 so at least it makes a nice noise.

I like my 26/8 spools good and it's ok on power, starts to run out of breath around 17psi or so, I'd probably go for a 27/8 if I could find one.

Love my k27/8. With a great stand alone tune and a good, free flowing FMIC and boost pipes I see 20+ psi at 3000 rpm, which IMHO is hard to beat. The kick in the *** when it spools up is great too!

PS: The kkk series turbos also beat pretty much everything in terms of reliability. 3+ years and who knows how many 1st-2nd-3rd gear pulls at 18+ psi in my car, and my k27/8 still had zero lateral or radial play when I checked it this weekend and doesnt burn a drop of oil.

My straight 6 328 BMW made a nice noise with an induction kit, so did my old CBX 1000 with a 6-1 exhaust .

These just should like ****. people mod these things on their probationary licence (18-22 years old) It's just something you don't modify.
