Default Rear hatch reseal advice

my rear hatch window is starting to lift, I've done a bunch of research and I'm going to tackle this project myself. I have a few questions for the experts though.

1. No tutorial I have read mentions replacing the rubber seal between the glass and the frame. Shouldn't it be replaced? If so where can you buy it, I can't find it online.

2. What adhesive would you recommend? Some tutorials mention silicone based glue, others mention 3M kits. I have read a lot of bad reviews about the 3M kit.

thanks

In my opinion paying $150 to $200 to have a glass shop repair is a good investment for a 28yr old hatch. If they are able to?

I got mine done here in LA at a small glass shop for $75 in about April (?) and it's holding up well still.

Can't even buy the chemicals for $75.

I need to do this also.

My uncle had to glue in a new rear 1/4 window on his bmw 535i with special glue. And that's all that holds it in. I'm thinking if i used the same glue, it should work.

Is it still holding? Can you identify the shop if it is as I need to get mine done. Thanks.

I paid $350 to have mine cut out and resealed. I had to help. It's holding up well but I wish I had spent a bit more time forming the frame closer to the glass for a tighter fit. Works perfect and doesn't look bad, just could have been better.
