930S Steering Wheel
I finally bit the bullet and got the 930S steering wheel from Sunset. Installation on my non-airbag car was super easy.
1. Pull the horn pad off the factory wheel and then use a 24mm socket to remove the nut and spring washer holding the factory wheel to the car. Be sure the wheel is pointing straight ahead when you remove it so you can put the new wheel on straight the first time around.
2. Pull the he horn pad off the 930S wheel the same way, just pull -- no tools needed, just plenty of faith as you have to pull pretty hard on the fancy new wheel to get it to pop off. The white arrows in the picture below show the plastic clips that secure the pad to the center of the wheel.
3. Slide the wheel on the steering shaft splines (being sure to put it on straight). The new wheel comes with the hub and turn signal cancellation tab installed, so the wheel literally bolts on to the car right out of the box.
4. The red arrows in the picture point to three straight slot screws that hold the horn contact ring in place. You could probably work around it, but I just removed those screws and pulled the contact ring out of the way temporarily so I could slip the spring washer and 24mm nut on and torque it down.
5. Pop the horn pad back in place by pressing fairly hard until the clips snap into the center of the wheel, and you're done!

Having lived with it a few days, I like it and plan to keep it. However, I do notice that it slightly impairs my view of the upper half of the voltage and temp gauges. Not a big deal, but make me wish we could tilt the column like modern cars. Also, the color and texture are not the best match for the rest of the interior. It's almost a dark slate, rather than real black, and parts of it -- the horn pad in particular -- seem to be extra grainy. I still like it and love the feel of it while driving, so plan to keep it, but figured I'd post up my minor nits in case helpful...
