Default Fabspeed Top-pipe questions

Good morning,

I'm installing a SS top-pipe as the turbo is pulled for AOS seals and other stuff. Not going to do the rest of the exhaust until next year, but taking advantage of the access while I'm here.

Pictured below, the Fabspeed comes with gaskets - when using the gaskets, should I also install new sealing rings for the exhaust?

Second, there is no flange connection for securing to the block. My sense is that this probably isn't a problem, but checking to see if there is something else I should do here. Once I put it all back together, I don't want to be in here again anytime soon

I've never heard of a problem without the flange. Since it's apart that far you might want to consider a little extra time and mony to send out the downpipe for ceramic coating to help protect your AOS from melting.

Interesting idea - who does that sort of work? Haven't monkeyed with exhaust all that much. Thanks!

You don't need the flange mounting to the block. Ceramic coat and go back together and you'll be fine. Many on here run aftermarket downpipes and I've never heard of anyone having issues.

Any thoughts on the seals/crush rings?

I run a copper gasket. If I were you I would run the crush ring and be done with it.

I'm pretty sure I used a copper gasket also and left the crush ring in place. I sent my downpipe to Swain Tech for the coating.

Hey ralreighBahn,

Sorry for not responding sooner. We always recommend replacing seal rings and crush rings. Our top pipe is lighter and does not require the extra support from the flange because the top pipe is not supporting as much weight. Hope that helps!

I doubt that supporting bracket was designed just to take the weight of the discharge pipe .

The supporting bracket was designed to help support the stock turbo. the stock turbo has a bracket as well that is substantial enough to support its own weight. that extra flange is unnecessary. the down pipe uses a 2 hanger system that is able to help support the top pipe. Most aftermarket companies do not have that extra flange in their design for the top pipe.

I know but it doesn't hurt to have some extra support there. H&S exhausts here in the UK have a bracket on their discharge pipe. Your full system is very nice but the postage and import duties kill the deal for me.

Thank you. Yes, postage across the pond is rough with importing. Maybe we can possibly work on something to help a bit.
