Pull a vaccume on the top port and see if it bleeds down or doesn't hold at all. That's about it.

Blow hard into one of the larger tubes. If you feel any air coming out either of the other two, get a new one!

Go to Autozone and get a hand held vaccume pump for under 30 bucks. Plug the line onto the top port and pump a vaccume on it, look at the guage on the pump and see if you loose the vaccume you just pumped on it. BTW, the vac pump comes in handy for checking other stuff and bleeding brake to, it's not a waisted one time deal.

Also, this probably won't keep your car from starting.

Why do you suspect the valve is shot?

What noise do you hear when you get on boost and then left off the throttle? Anything?

You can't get above 1.2 bar on the factory gauge? If that is so you have a big air leak most likely one of the points that connect to the turbo or the itercooler. Check and make sure all the clamps are tight and feel around for cracks in the rubber parts.

no i can get above 1.2, its just above that point it makes noise. i can get like 1.7-1.8 in first and about 19-1.95 in 4th, just its less than usual. and yes, i did check for leaks and see none.

A drop in, atmosphere dump, you need to plug the J boot. TurboXs has one that is pretty loud.
