Hello Toobelt0
Thank you for answering.
The 944 turbo is from 1986 220 HP.
DME 0261200075 95161812102
KLR 0261201014 95161811305
I had 2 AutoThority eproms, 1 for the DME and 1 for the KLR, for the DME AutoThority 951.02.200.20
I would like to know if it fits on the 944.
Thank you well.

Not sure based on part numbers, but if the chips have 24 pins, they should work. The 87 and later dme has a 26 pin socket.

Hello,
yes the eproms have 24 pins. I will try. Thanks again for taking the time to respond to me.

NP. Those chips are a pretty good improvement over stock. Do you also have the banjo bolt that came with the kit?

Be aware that some chips require a 3 bar FPR or you might run lean which can result in head gasket issues. I’d try to find the manual just to be certain. Good luck.

Autothority Chips had two versions, stage I and stage II. The stage II was intended to run higher boost and utilized the jetted banjo bolt (stage I did not). Neither came with a 3.0 bar FPR. The stage II, depending on how much boost was run, did have a reputation of blowing head gaskets, mostly if run hard (track use). Speculation was that they ran lean at the top end. Not sure that was the actual problem, as the Autothority chips that I used ran pig rich (on Turbo S K26/8 cars) with the stock 2.5 bar FPR. Maybe aggressive ignition timing was more of the concern, and not running higher octane fuel.

I have a set of custom Autothority chips that came with my Escort/cup car, tuned for a K27 turbo. And the ignition timing on that DME chip is more aggressive than the factory Cup chips. The head had detonation damage showing (pitting) when I had it apart, even when it had been run on nothing but race gas.

An adjustable FPR is probably a good idea when playing with aftermarket chips and higher boost.

'86 and '87 DMEs are 24 pin chips, '88 and newer went to 28 pin. KLRs are 24 pin for all years, but the mapping is different for K26/6 cars vs 26/8 cars.
