Default Recommendations for an engine builder?

I'm looking to get my 951 engine thoroughly cleaned, rebuilt and resealed, possibly with a few improvements while it's all apart. I want to end up with a solid street engine which looks as close to factory appearance from the outside as possible.

After spending some time searching, I've found broadfoot racing, 944 enhancement, and lindsey racing.

Are there any others I should be looking at?

I'm in the southeast but am willing to ship the engine to the right rebuilder.

thanks for any recommendations.

If you are on the west coast, Performance Developments out of Costa Mesa, CA offer a very thorough service and are experienced with building 944/968 engines. Talk to Neil.

Are you prepared to ship your motor anywhere in the USA. Perhaps be more specific about your location.

Yes I would ship it anywhere if the quality of work made it worth it. I am in the southeast.

Chris built my engine as well. Be sure to give him the time he needs to sort out any issues and tune it properly before he sends the car back to you.

Thanks guys. Got a few places to check into now.

I was planning to send just the engine out, which will let me get the bay cleaned and painted while it's away. Is this likely to be a problem as far as tuning the engine when it's done (vs. sending the whole car). Ideally I'd like the shop to be able to test/dyno it to make sure there's no issues or leaks before I have it installed in the car, but I'm not sure how practical that is.

I saw on Lindsay racing that the cost to rebuild these engines base packages around $2k, not including the millions of options they provide for expensive upgrades I'm sure. What is the complete overall price to have an engine rebuilt like this with labor and shipping?

How much of the work are you willing to do yourself? The 2k you are quoting is for the short block only if there is nothing majorly wrong with the engine.

If you have a shop do it you are talking in the 5k to 7k range with nothing done other than drop the engine, strip it, ship it, put it back together, and stuff it back in.
