Wow this really turned into a turbo thread! But I'm not that surprised. I would have been really surprised if it turned into a long suspension or aero discussion
Of all the areas that enabled this car to break the lap record the engine is definitely not the most important one. The turbo is probably the last thing I will change on the car to make it quicker

We could discuss Aero, but then you would have to divulge the necessary info, post up your datalogs ...

probably the best narrowbody 944 project ever - you've got amazing fabrication skills there - 3.1 944 underneath what looks almost like a japanese ricer.. neat!

Just saw in the datalog that 150-200 km/h with 1.35 bar goes in 2.87 sec. Pretty decent considering the drag of the widebody, wing, tires etc

I think everybody is forgetting the important question to ask? Did the driver have any say in the set up of the car? Which turbo being used is not as important as the driver setting up the car to his liking. A car set up for a driver's specific driving style will have better times then a a car with a slightly better turbo. Look at Schumacher and Barichello. The cars were set up for Michael's preference of oversteer. Rubens like a different set up, but he had to drive a car set up for Michael. I bet the 944 has a much better time in it if the driver has a say in the set up and a little more track time.

long time, no pics. we must fix that:

"TimeattackNU Festival - King of Mantorp 2014" found on
http://onroaders.com/blog/1567/timea...f-mantorp-2014

" One of the big hype's before the event was Gustaf Burström's 944. With professional racing driver, Alx Danielsson behind the wheel at Gatebil, this car allegedly did a 1:19.3 lap around Mantorp on semi slicks?! Unfortunatly, his weekend ended early as he went out on the track only to crack his exhaust manifold and ending his weekend after a couple of laps. "

They got it wrong. It was the double slip fit collector on my exhaust manifold that got separated from the header pipes. I used springs to hold it together but the were too weak for higher boost. So one of the headers acted like a blowtorch and after a while that created a small fire. That's now fixed and the next race is in 3 weeks.

Here's a video from a test/shakedown after I fixed the headers and issues created by the fire
