Default Yet another call for help - South SF Bay area or Parade?

Alright... the adventure with my "new" motor just gets better and better.

Apparently the guy I paid to do the partial install (put the motor up in the hole and get it 75% done, just leave the wires and hoses for me) forgot to torque down the f**king 3 nuts and 4 bolts that connect the crossover pipe to the turbo... and they have fallen out.

They seem to be M10x38 from what I see on the fiche (and Pelican Parts). The 38... nobody will have that here.

Is there anybody local that has a set of these kicking around? I'm supposed to do the PCA Parade Autocross tomorrow (clearly that's not happening now) and I'm supposed to do the DE at Laguna this weekend before packing up and heading back to Chicago.

So beyond pissed off at this point...

Anybody know the pitch? I'm assuming it's 1.5?

Yes, pitch is 1.5.
What part of the bay are you near?
I just finished my build and I used new bolts, so I probably haven't thrown away the original bolts yet.

Jim,
There's a Fastenal at 1526 Del Monte Blvd in Sand City. Their phone number is (831) 394-4422. If they don't have what you need, call C&C Repair at (831) 373-5355 (249 Dela Vina Ave, Monterey, off Del Monte near the highway 1 overpass) - they're independent Porsche specialists and they *might* be able to help you (warning though - they are probably incredibly busy with Parade in town and might sound annoyed at receiving questions about bolts and nuts).
Good luck.

I'm down in Royal Oaks, just north of Salinas.

Wonder if I can convince C&C to just cut some 40s down to 38s and run them through a die

If you're over by Salinas, there are lots of other resources close to you, but I'm not familiar with them (I lived in Monterey). If you know exactly what you need, you should be able to get any machine shop to take care of it for you.

From memory I don't recall the exact length being critical. I'd be surprised if a hardware store bolt (either 35 or 40) could not be made to work just fine.

Got it taken care of. Really didn't feel like doing it with limited tools. Hit up Fastenal (thanks for the suggestion) and picked up some 40s, then had a local machine shop in Seaside cut them down 2mm. From what I recall the stock bolts have just enough clearance I was concerned 40s might bottom against the turbine housing before getting tight.

Stopped by C+C, he didn't seem too interested in helping (I'll just leave it at that) so gave Porsche of Monterey a call and hot damn, they took care of it in only a few hours and with a smile. A+ super happy with those guys.

Missed the AX today but somehow convinced my buddy to let me and my wife use his GT3. Got our butts kicked in I05 but was still fun.

Laguna Saturday... Let's hope for no more surprises.

I'm glad you got that sorted, Jim. At least you still got to do the AutoX at all and in a GT3 to boot.

Have fun at Laguna, I hope all goes well. Remember to brake hard and avoid the kitty litter, you'll get stuck!
