This is making me re-think my 944 fixer-upper. I might need to convert to 968...

Congratulations...looking forward to hearing about the improvements you're planning. I'm still working on my 968...with several similar upgrades.

Great information there, Thanks for sharing.

What is the preferred method to turn a non-LSD 968 6-Speed into a LSD unit? I assume the LSD from a 951 will not swap right in.

COrrect. Elite makes a cost effecitve one, I think around $1000. You can get it from Racer's Edge.

Mine, FWIW, is a Torsen, which is not that normal, given that it is aftermarket. The gearing is the same 1-6, but the R&P is a bit shorter. I think Clark said 4.11. MUCH shorter. I'll be pulling a good bit less from 60-66, a LOT harder from to 83, a little less until 95, a good bit more until 107, and then the curves sit on top of each other.

Harry:

I gave California Motorsport a call this morning. If I provide them a 968 tranny, they will build me want I want for only $6,000.00!

Yep. Clark had about that much in this one with the custom gearing stuff. And that was 10 years ago!!! Seriously, give Karl a call. He's put those Elite diffs in a few of these cars, one he set a few records in before he sold it last year.

I really like my OS Giken LSD in my tall ratio 968 'box. Feels great, smoother than the stock ZF LSD.

Worked last weekend on installing some 993 headlight conversion on someone's 968, have to check who made the fenders but I don't think it was D9 units, about which I heard they really were not great.
