Default Boost Control Time: EBC vs MBC, Help!

I've searched, read and still haven't found the definitive answer...

Please post you opinion on EBS (electronic boost control) vs. MBS (manual boost control)...

From what I have read the Apexi AVC-R or Greddy Profec B are popular for EBC...I'm really not sure what advantage there is by going to an EBC over MBC..(help)

Any wisdom would be greatly appreciated as I have just picked up a Lindsey dual port wastegate for my money pit

I have a Lindsey dual port, and the car came with a MBC, which i replaced with an AVC-R.

I believe the AVC-R builds boost faster and holds it better.
I'm not sure why that is, just seems so.

It also has a lot of nice features.

I guess it all depends on your budget.

Aparrently (and I have not actually experienced this, as I never fitted an MBC), the MBC can allow boost spikes - not good - whereas the control of the EBC is obviously quite a bit better. I like my HKS, but everyone swears by the Apexi.

Plus it looks bling!

an EBC helps keep the boost where you want it,like smooth the boost out so you don't get spikes like what you'd get with a MBC as Mike said.and definatley YES it looks awsome whichever EBC you get wether its an HKS EVC V(i want this baby),Apexi AVCR,BLITZ Spec ID or Profec E01(this gots its own LCD screen!!!) they look MEAN!!!!!!!!!!

I just did the profec b spec II and love it, nice fast boost build up, holds rock steady to redline in all gears! I am planning on raising the gain a little bit to see how it responds. On that note, anybody out there with a Profec care to share numbers that worked well for them...I'm still nervous about getting too aggressive with the tuning and am playing my cards on the reserved side to be safe but I'd like to check, compare, and contrast with people...

My MBC (same as everyone sells) along with my Deltagate and 4 3/4 rounds of pre-load works great. Boost is right where I set it, every time, and I have not seen any spikes. This was the same with my K26/8 at 18psi, and now my K27/8 at 8psi.

Dyno day is coming up next month, and I will have the pressure mapped so I can see for sure that it is rock solid.

ebc > mbc imo. using a blitz spc-id (just installed it, haven't driven the car, but everything i read said ebc = faster initial boost + more accurate control, plus, it was free hehe)

I can't see how ebc could spool turbo any faster than say a LBE or reliboost manual controller, as no signal is sent to the wastegate until preset pressure is achieved? Please explain!

true it wont make the turbo spool faster, but manual boost controllers tend to have boost spikes,ie when on fully boost you can hit 13psi-16psi-13psi again.as where a electronic boost controller will reduce or even eliminate the spikes.hope this helps

well, it's a lot more accurate than a check-valve style controller. it won't spike as said above, that's the biggest problem w/ some mbc's - they will spike upon first achieving the maximum desired boost.
