Matt
I read your thread on the Apexi, looks giid. I was actually gonna buy that same unit but held off a little while I did some research. I am hoping the ProfecB is 1/4 din size so I can actually mount it in the gauge panel along with a gauge

With the Apexi avc-r, is it possible to set 2 different boost pressures, and shift between them easy while u drive?

It has an A/B toggle mode if that is what you mean, dont know how easy it is to switch as it hasnt arrived here yet.

There is an A and B setting that can be switched between fairly easy but your car should be tuned to a certain boost setting. When you change that boost setting you change your AF ratio which can be bad for your motor! It is better to control your boost with your right foot when you don't want full power.

Reliaboost MBC. No spikes, no boost creep. 40 bucks.

I saw an magazine write up recently where they actually tested a bunch of EBC and one MBC. They said there was not much difference between any of them, except price. And the MBC was just about as good as the EBC.

Here's a measured boost curve with a ReliaBoost on my car:

You can see there is an overshoot of about 2 psi around 4000 rpm. (Ignore that little blip at redline; it's not real). An EBC could flatten that out. However, I'm not sure that it is really detrimental, as long as you can deliver the proper amount of fuel to match the boost. In my case the A/F ratios I got from a dyno run look fine, so I'm not worried about it.

Yes, I see exactly the same thing on my Autometer boost gauge. The data I'm showing in the figure is taken from a datalogging file that uses the GURU MAP sensor readings of boost pressure.

Ok, just wanted to make sure this was visable on autometer boost gauge as with my reliaboost, I see no spikes and it hits dead on at 15psi and stays there.

sorry to hijack the thread but................... quick question.

So the AVC-R has an A and B setting............... can it be triggered by an external switch????

I am looking for an EBC that can be wired up for an external switch....

With Vitesses Stage 2 kit I am running I can switch fuel maps on the fly.... so I want to run my everyday... 91 Octane 13-15 psi on MAP A and a more agressive map on B.

SO will the AVC-R allow me to wire it up to a single pole switch??? I would imagine there must be a wire on that setup you can either short, ground, etc.... and do what I need it to do.
