The weirdest combination of mm and inches must be wheels and tires.
A standard tire has its width measured in mm, the sidewall measured in percentage of width and wheel diameter and wheel width is measured in inches.
How the hell did they manage to screw that up? Or is this a golden example of a compromise that shouldn't have been made

Michelin tried fully metric dimensions with their TRX but not many cars used it.

I think we had those on our old BMW 735i E23 when I grew up.
