Default Fuel Pressure damper question

Which is the REAL function of the fuel pressure damper on the rail?
What happens if i delete it? How con i do?

my understanding is it sort of smooths out pressure fluctuations in the rail because of the hammering injectors vs the pump.
then the FPR tries to maintain rail pressure by regulating how much fuel gets returned to the tank.

No.
It's there for a a good reason. The rail will soon begin to leak and result in FIRE.

This is completely untrue, been running my 951 without a damper for over 2 years now. Zero issues... I removed it on purpose, less lines under the hood now and less things to fail.
