At the moment I think this is the best bang for buck ($850) without DIY soldering and printer connectors..

I like to slder projects, but do not trust my soldering skills enough to try and run quite expensive engine on it..

I already have clewett front mount 60-2 crank trigger, to which I will add cam trigger and run sequential spark & fuel. At least that is the plan for now.

The plan also includes Mercury marine IGN-1A coils and 80mm Nissan Q45 MAF.
I would look into running speed/density. Pretty easy to set up and dial in with a copilot in the car working a laptop and modifying the fuel maps in real time.

I like the idea of blended model of both mass air flow and speed density.

This is why I am trying to learn and know more. I have been so intrigued by standalone and tuning that I thought it would be good to get the conversation going here.

Anyone using water/meth injection controlled from their standalone systems?

Was considering water spray but for cooling the radiator if we see temp increases due to removing Air-oil cooler. Once you move to a good standalone, the world is your Oyster...but I agree that it is paramount to get great support.

In general, I guess I haven't seen many people running water/meth injection on 951s. Just assume the people doing it will probably running standalone as well.

I have the Aquamist HFS-4 system with the DME. It has it's own controller, with lots of features. However, I hardly use any of the fancy features, so could easily do the same thing with the Vitesse piggyback, and I'm sure just about any stand-alone would handle it just fine.

I am embarking on the stand alone trip myself. I am rescuing a 1986 951 with the classic "minor fuel line burst" engine bay fire and I figure might as well up grade instead of just restore. I thank everyone in advance for your contributions to this thread. I am starting my homework here!

YUP this is key right here.
