Just a comment an OT on the Tesla S:
Here in Norway we have huge taxes on cars. A Panamera is in the $300K region. But since we are the oil sheiks of Europe we have an incentive for electric cars: No tax, no VAT, all toll roads free, free parking and free charging.
This puts the Tesla S in the $100.000 price range with all the perks. Thats the same price as my Skoda Superb 4x4.....
Surprisingly the Tesla S was the most sold car i Norway in December.

Interesting laws. Reminds me of wooden pellets for heating. They were ultra cheap, so cca 30% of people bough pellet heating systems. Prices of pellets went up by 400% in last 5 years.

Gotcher electric motor conversion right here:

Note:

1.) Cost of conversion;

2.) Torque per wheel, and;

3.) Size of hybrid package

My vote would be to build a whole ultralight car around this, rather than dragging around all the now useless weight of the donor carcass.

Then, we'd be talking quarter mile runs of maybe half what's noted in the original post.

Or, keeping 944 cars running forever by dumping their whole stock drivetrain, cooling and exhaust systems, etc, and replacing a fraction of that weight with even more/better batteries as they come online affordably.
