Default Footwell lights???

Has anyone installed footwell lights? If so, what did you use and how'd you decide to wire it?

You'll have better luck in the 924/944/968 section.

Should be pretty easy to follow wherever the dome light wire goes and tap into that?

I'd just tap the door switch as it is right where you would be mounting lights. Door pin switch gets grounded when door opens, so you would run positive to a always on wire/source, and ground to door pin switch. When door opens, foot well lights come on. You could also run a switch that when flipped has a normal ground so you could turn on foot well lights with door closed if you want. Only downside is a potential flat battery if you forget to turn off, where as just door switched will never be an issue as you always close doors to lock car

The door switch was what I was thinking for that very reason, it's right there. The bigger question is, is there a really good OEM looking light to use? Something I saw on eBay might be an option, VW footwell lights on eBay. The only problem with these is that I would most likely need to cut a hole in the footwell lining to install them and have it look decent.

Howabout mounting the light at the front of the carpet part of the door panel pocket?

That thought crossed my mind but I decided that locating a light there wouldn't provide enough light into the footwell when the door is open. It would provide a nice pool of light on the ground though which might be a good option with the lights I found on eBay. That kit had 4 lights which would make that idea work.
