Default cleaning engine bay

Motor us out of my car. I would like to clean the bay up before i put a shiny engine in that dirty bay of oil leaks and nasty build up that has been for over 20years any one recommend anything thanks .

I second simple green... It's awesome. Works even better with a tooth brush or gun cleaning brush from Otis.

Also if you can hook your pressure washer to a hot water source thats awesome

i have pressure washer how do i add hott water ? i know castrol makes something like simple green buddy at work said it was better. going to give this all a shot tomorrow

Try some of Zeps degreaser products at Home Depot. I buy from them directly, no grease can stand up to their Formula 50. I'm sure they have something almost as good for sale on the shelf.

Green/environmentally friendly cleaners suck. If it doesn't have a skull and crossbones, it's not effective enough for me :-). By the way, cleaning engine bays in your driveway is illegal, regardless of the product you use, 'green' or not. All it takes is a nosy neighbor, and you'll have a guy from the environmental protection agency writing you a fat summons.

Castrol Super Clean. Purple spray bottle and gallon refills. Strong biodegradable degreaser. I've had much better results compared to SG.

yeah going to try it tomorrow. need to see were i can grab a hot water source want to clean it and then paint the engine bay. thanks for all your help i will keep you posted on how the stuff works

I would be careful with the pressure washer. I used Purple Power, rags and a night of elbow grease. Came out real nice and nothing was damaged.

how far from your driveway is your house water heater?

not doing it at my house my parents own a shop (car electronics) were the car is right now. so im thinking the water heater in the garage

Water heaters have a drain at the bottom that has a fitting for a garden hose...
