Then I remembered an autocross this past season where this little asian girl walked all the way across a huge parking lot to tell me how cool she thinks my car is... I'll quote, "It's a REAL car. WAY cooler than my boyfriends stupid Evo!"
So I guess it *is* possible.... .

And no, I'm not joking.
I wish I had more time to dedicate it to something in particular rather than it being my toy for whenever I'm home. At least next year I'll probably be able to attend DE events in Va.

Actually, it tends to be a lot of Asians that do most of the dropping.

As for what I'm building my car for... well... it's a toy. Fun street car first, competent autocross car a very close 2nd, and good on the track 3rd. Stiff ride (450/350 + TB's and Bilsteins) but not awful, still has R12 A/C, S2 gearbox w/Guard diff, bolt-in rollbar with Recaro SRDs, quiet muffler, MP3 + Bluetooth, etc. Probably about as close to a racecar as I'd want for street use. Getting around in downtown Chicago when I drive it to the office on nice days is a little brutal dodging potholes and manhole covers.
The S3R is fulfilling my need for a race car

Just acquired a 86 951 in alpine white. Will be a street legal track car. Going for light weight & suspension as primary focus.
Right now it is completely stock. Right down to the original radio.
First I will start with the basic maintenance items to get her in line. Rod bearings, motor mounts, fuel hoses. Belts and water pump already done.
Other ideas.... Fiberglass hood and rear bumper. Lexan rear window, lightweight carpet, roll bar, and race seats.
Will start a build thread soon...

For me the 944 is just my current means to an end.
To quote Steve McQueen "When you're racing, it's life, anything that happens before or after is just waiting."
Unfortunately, these days I do way too much waiting!
