Well the title of this post might be a little misleading. The pad choice has to do with the fact that the PO gave me three sets of track pads. I have my first track event (with this car) next weekend and want to get an opinion of what I should run with. The choices:
Performance Friction Carbon Metallic compound 01
Pagid Orange
Carbon Friction XR5
So many options! BTW, will be running / instructing at Motorsports Ranch Cresson, TX 1.3 mile.
Also running / instructing at Eagles Canyon the next weekend. Should be fun!

Good idea! You are right, easy enough to change. But the 1.3 is so short. Maybe do it during the ECR weekend as that track is heavy on brakes. Should give me a pretty good idea of which one is best.

PFC are awesome but throw a heap of dust. Worth taking something to clean it off mid track time. If it's your first time on the track you might want a more progressive pad though. I've tried Pagid Blue and Black. Not sure how Orange compare. Blue are more of a street/club pad. Black are more aggressive. Never tried the C-Metallic.

Sounds like you are an experienced driver just playing with a new car for the first time. The PF 01s will certainly be up to handling the heavy braking. In a 1.3 mile track, not a lot of time for the brakes to cool.

I ran the same setup as Mike above w/ Big Reds up front. The car would stand up on it's nose under brakes.

PFCs are terrific pads for a track car, and can supposedly be used all the way to the backing plates. One note: the 97 compound isn't available any longer. I'm using PFC 08s front and rear now.
