Thats how the VW is quick, it's got 4motion, AWD.
Converting to 4WD would add a lot of weight, and complexity to make the car 4WD, I think I prefer the RWD feel on the track.

I can get 500WHP from the 13B for less weight, that was my thinking, unless I kept it NA of course.

What do Miatas go for over there? They're pretty easy to stuff a Turbo in, early models are stupid light, and there is a huge aftermarket.

Miatas are only a couple of grand. But I have about 60k in my AE86 chassis, so I wont be changing chassis anytime soon!

If go 4g63 stroked to 2.4 and choose turbo according to the track.

Well in that case put a pair of triangles and a snail on that thing with a nasty port job.

I'm not sure how popular K24s are over there, but they're a great option here. You can get ~280-300 NA whp with one with a bit of effort, they're pretty reliable, and they're pretty cheap to replace or buy parts for. A lot of S2000 guys here put K24s in place of the F22 or F20. How competitive are the GT3 drivers in your area? I have had some decent luck both on track and in autocross against GT3s with my stock F22 in a 2800lb car, but I was driving a bit closer to the limit than the GT3 drivers.

I had thought of a K24, they are more rare than F20's here, and at least the F20 is RWD to start with.

The more I think about it, the more a 13b makes sense.

What about a Mark II golf 1.8 16v

That's awesome, I prefer the Dahlback mk4 though!

I'm going with the Honda engines, they seem to be so reliable and since you doing all this work anyway you might as well put something in there which won't have to come out again to often

Well its a great drag motor, cant say I would want all that nose weight for a track car! Incredible motor though.

indeed it is, I'd still go F20c keep it a 2L and just turbo it with a gtx3076R

My mate has a K20 standard block with the gt3076r /.82 with an un opened motor at ~380 rwhp on ~13 psi
He has it in a S13 with a S2000 box. Also running hondata

You can go 2.5 pretty easily with sleeves on the F20, more torque would be good for the track. But the 13B is lower in the bay, and lighter and much more common... hmmm
