I have the same problem as you, my fittings is leaking after 1 year.

I don´t think the o-ring inside the fittings like the evans cooling i´m using so i´m going to change all to fittings without o-ring and a locking nut instead

I figured it was probably due to vibration more than anything.

Minor update - I get that this is the stuff you used. I'm pretty sure the stuff LR sells is actually 5/16" OD tube (based on my measurement yesterday).
So for those who do a search in the future (looking for the same stuff I am, to replace a piece of an existing LR kit):
51495K219 - Nickel-plated brass for 1/4 tubeing X 1/8 npt male pipe 90

Got the new fitting installed last night. What a PITA. Between the vacuum hoses, wiring harness, and overall total lack of room back there for my fat grubby hands.... I lost count of how many times I dropped the stupid fitting. I eventually kicked an empty coolant bucket under the car so that I didn't have to crawl back under the car every time to retrieve it...
