When the cars get seriously fast the 100-160 kph time decreases so the gaps between cars will decrease as well, and won't be as significant as the 100-200 kph. Yes you have to change from 3rd to 4th, but if you do a "poor" time you can always blame the driver...

My lowly S2 will only do 100-160 km/h in 7.0s - about the same as a Cayman S.

That's not bad for 180 kw (250hp) quicker then a 951s ROW (8.1 sec)

Actually it's about 210kw at the flywheel. (180kw at the wheels). It's enough to be fun on the track on relatively narrow 16" twin groove rubber. I still give older gt3's a run for their money.

My 951 is much slower but my Mazdaspeed3 with a 2871 turbo is at exactly 5.0 seconds with high speed datalogging. The whp to get there is ~370whp and 370 ft lbs of toque and the car weighs ~3250 pounds. 5.0 seconds is very quick for a street car.

Paully, that's a fair jump. What has changed from your initial run?

Just e85. I'm assuming also that my AFR went a little leaner at top end power (can't be to sure) Road was flat too (on both runs)

60~100 mph ? too small interval.

The reason why is because it's achieved in 1 gear and mostly in your power band. And it's used in automotive performance measures just like 0-100 km/h (0-62mph)

Paulyy, are there any places in Oz that you can wring it out in 4th gear without getting put in jail?

40-140MPH test?

There is, But i need to drive roughly an hour out of town, and probably 6am on a sunday.

Me and a mate in a 968 went for a drive looking for some nice driving roads and stumbled upon some remote roads. Might go one morning and stretch my legs.

But seriously, they want to bring in a law that if you're 1-2 km/h over the speed limit, you get a fine.

Why does the Australian government hate speed and firearms so much?

I've done a bit of treking out WA way Mate, an hours drive is perfect to get you settled in.

I'd leave at 5am to play with the 996/997's in the Malibu canyons, thats a four hour transit time alone. The 951 chews a*s in turns.. in a straight, they disappear.

human safety i guess.

Firearms make sense. less people have them. the less people will shoot eachother.

Speed is worse though. the law is enforced so hard that the way i see it, they want you to be under the limit. but as soon as your over, they'll bend you over. If you're under the limit by so much (i think it's 20 km/h) you'll get in trouble too.
I feel as i need to keep my eye on the speedo 90% of the time, in fear if getting a fine. But really i go at my own pace.. with traffic flow. if im 10k's over.. bad luck. i'll slow down for cameras and stuff though.
