Default Help ID turbo k26 cheater? Turbo connoisseurs

Okay I received the below unit as a trade for some parts it was supposed to be a k26-6, but upon inspection I found that the turbine wheel inducer was 64mm and the exducer 54mm, according to some factory data the k26-6 turbine inducer is 64mm but the exducer is 48mm, I took some measurement and compared it to a another k26-6 turbine and indeed this unit exducer is bigger, did I score a rebuilt k26-6 cheater?

TIA

lart

see pictures below 1 & 2 new unit 3 & 4 k26-6 stock

What about the compressor?

I don't know much about the KKK turbos. I think that is the wheel used in the 27-8, or 26-8

compressor is stock, but the unusual thing is that the housing for the turbine has the Porsche factory markings but it's stamped #6

my guess is that the hotside was machined for a clipped #8 wheel. The stock exducer diameter for the #8 turbine wheel is 55.04 mm iirc.

the k27-6 dr is set up similar. The 6 hotside is machined out to fit the 8 wheel. So in essence the dr is a k27-8 with a 6cm turbine housing.

If the compressor wheel is a stock k26, then what you have is a cross betwen the 26-6 and a 26-8. probably acts just a little better than a 26-6.

Have you measured the compressor wheel? That may be modified too..

seems a bit detrimental, no? That larger turbine won't be doing much but adding lag if the compressor is stock inside that small A/R hotside.

10 years ago when you were probably in elementary school, Huntley racing came out with some cheater k26-6, designed for club racers, the stock look with extra added power, I believe big John from Texas pushed 330 rwhp at 22 psi with a cheater turbo, of course that's nuts but there is some minimal but gain after all

I'll check the compressor tomorrow, do you have the measurements for the stock k26 compressor wheel?

I still run a Huntley stage 3 SBB Turbonetics hybrid and I love it! I have the dimensions somewhere if I find them I post them.
