Default weird shift ****

trying to remove shift ****. pull up the leather and rubber boots to see a black plastic end the the **** instead of the metal i see on pictures. i read that the shift ***** usually have a clip that you can see that holds it in place. There doesn't seem to be a clip on this ****.
might be a stupid question, but how do i take this type off?

Agreed, alg ****. Pull up and it will come off. I just put mine back on tonight, same thing. Should be a big piece of rubber.
