Dry lifters getting you down?
When I re-assemble the cam tower, I always dread that lifter clatter as the lifters re-fill with oil. Soaking the lifters in oil can help, but it usually takes days or weeks to really be effective. Then, out of the blue, I had a vision that very well may change 944 lifter installations (and indeed mankind) for the rest of time...

Here's a question for you. I'm about to install the cam box (engine in car), how do you guys stop the lifters from falling out while placing the box on top of the head?

Using thick assembly lube on the side of the lifters when you put them in, and they pretty much stick in there. If you tilt the car a bit also, you can decrease the angle needed to install the cam tower, which also makes them less prone to falling out.

19 seconds of pure genius! I have 8 lifters sitting in an old coffe can of Marvel's for the last couple of months. Every time I pop the can open and exercize them air still comes out.

I was just talking with a friend last week if this idea would work... now I see it does!
I have lifters that have been sitting idle for, literally, a decade.

so you get a jar, fill it with oil, make a hole in the lid and put a hose and pump air into the sealed jar with the lifter inside and it fills with oil? or are you removing air?
