Flywheel & Pressure Plate pics??
Anyone got some good pics or a link to a thread showing how these all fit together? Currently have a very minor situation with a new FW and the PPlate from SouthBend which I'm told his a modified stock Sachs PP.
There's a very small difference (0.3mm) that is stopping them from locating together properly. The machinist is calling it a locating spiggot but when I picture a spiggot I think of a tongue and groove setup. He says that it's actually a stepped rim where one fits into the other. This is in addition to the normal 8mm bolts. I'm just trying to picture the setup and how this could be wrong. This same FW is in some US cars and mating up to the stock or KEP PPs just fine. Perhaps the SouthBend one is larger somehow? It's very minor and he's machined it already to fit but would be nice to picture what he's talking about. Problem is he's really old school and doesn't have the capacity to take a pic and email it to me. His quote "I'm analogue, not digital" He's been doing this stuff for 40+ years so I have no fear of his expertise.
The reason that he has all my these components is that he's making a clutch disc for the new motor. He's in another state so that's why I can't just drop by and look at what he's talking about.

Hi Patrick,
here are some pictures for you to glance over, im still not sure what your clutch guy is having trouble lining up but maybe these may give you a better idea.
First picture you can see the flywheel, the flywheel actually has a small raised lip around it that the pressure plate fits into.
2nd picture is of the pressure plate and clutch disc,
3rd picture is the assembly bolted together with the starter ring gear also attached.

This is the Flywheel. It's been fitted and working with other cars using either KEP or Stock PPs so not sure what happened with mine.
The clutch guy says that the manufacture and composition of this FW is very good so that's a plus. There is quite a lot of science that goes into these things apparently.

Don't shoot the messenger, but if I had to guess I'd say the flywheel in post 9 was for a non-turbo. The 951 flywheel is flat all the way out to the thin lip around the perimeter. See the stock n/a flywheel here for example, which seems closer to what you have....

Thanks for the involvement Tom. That FW in #9 is a custom built version with the 60-2 teeth cut into it as opposed to running with the stock 132 ring gear. The reason being that I wanted to go back to using the stock crank sensor rather than the chopper wheel on the front of the motor. It will give a better signal and also clean up the front of the motor which will make room for the d/sump belt/wheel.
Also, do you remember what PPlate you had when you ran one of their clutches Tom? Any pics by chance?
