Wossner pistons/Alusil compatiblity?
Well... I'm having no luck finding a used set of 100.5 Mahle pistons, so I'm considering the next best thing (I hope). Cost & availability is dicatating this direction...Is anyone using Wossners without Nikasil coating? From what I've found/read it sounds as if they have a coating compatible with our Alusil bores.
Thanks

I read Chris's remarks dated last October in this post "Mahle, Arias, Woessner or JE pistons best? regarding Wossner's compatibility, just wanted to hear if Wossners were becoming the norm and whether more rebuilds are being done using Wossners, since getting pistons from Mahle is getting more difficult and they're cost.

Totally compatible , just make sure u specify when ordering. Had mine made to order from Germany. Have all your specs ready , like desired compression ratio , turbo or na, head gasket thickness , combustion chamber volumes .. Etc.

I'm seriously considering Wossner pistons and rods for a 3.0 Alusil build, I dont see 104mm pistons on their website though, anyone know if they are special order ?.

Mahle
Hi.
Lindsey racing have 100,5 pistons from Mahle motorsport in stock for the alusil block. Price 1325:-
I think that is good value and I think Mahle is hard to beat.

104mm Mahle pistons were quite a lot more when asked Andial adding import duty ruled them out for me.

But when it comes to 100,5 which was what he is looking for I'd go Mahle.

Wossner are good, like a European JE. I used a set of them coated for Alusil and they seem to be holding up. If I had the choice, I would go Mahle. They are light years nicer. Lighter and you can get some great options. The slipper skirt, box on box is the best design out there. Custom pin options and coating options make them the best.

I am about to rebuild my 89 turbo cup car this winter and most of the parts I got from the US even if most of it is made elsewere...
Good luck!

I expect to pay up to $1000 for the pistons complete, what hacks me off is paying 23% UK import duty/tax, I thought I would avoid the tax with Wossner. Makes me wonder about machined 968 pistons again.
