Default ISV when running a stand-alone ECU? - solved

The original ISV seems to be a bit odd and it would be easier to have a 2-pin PWM controllable ISV when running a stand-alone ECU.

Any good options available?

I'll be running a motec on my build, and was wanting to run a throttlebody with the ISV built in (something like a Buick V6 one from an Aussie Commodore), to simplify things.

What kind if standalone are you running. I'm able to run the stock ISV with Link standalone

I have an Emerald k3 and the standard isv has been used, today I have been experimenting by ignoring it and letting the ECU control idle using ignition. It seems ok but more experiments needed.

With the Electromotive ECU you can run the stock ISV or a GM/ford unit with the right plumbing adapter.
Depending on the needs of the user I will use either one. The GM/Ford units are easier to deal with and the ISV itself is a lot cheaper, but some folks prefer to keep the stock unit since the plumbing is already done and it keeps a stock appearance.

DTA S60 pro so it should be able to handle the original ISV but unless I got it wrong it will use two PWM outputs and that is kind of waste...

How many outputs do you have?

I wish I hade read the manual a bit closer before asking, just found an output specific for unsprung Bosch 3-pin idle valves

At least your questions made me read the manual....

Which Ford/GM unit are you refering to?

FWIW I have been using a 4-wire stepper motor with a 4" throttle body on another car and it has not been easy to figure out idle settings, as the stepper motor doesn't seem to react fast enough to throttle inputs. I have found much easier to deal with the Bosch solenoid on the 951.

I have seen a fair few references to people deleting the ISV and in general finding it fine (maybe foot on the pedal when cold for a moment)

ALso does your aftermarket let you control idle any other way? I have now spent a few days driving with idle controlled by ignition - its around freezing in the UK at the moment and it seems smooth and fine at idle so I plan to delete the ISV this weekend and see how I get on.
