Before making a final decision be sure to understand turbine flow limits. Obviously I am using something on the larger side, but, believe it or not I may go larger yet for my end goal.

I personally think my current turbo would be optimal for a 3.1 with a good flowing head. I don't think I've hit the limit on it yet and with a larger engine it would spool up even sooner.

I could see 400#ft at 3500 rpms happening. Maybe even sooner at your elevation.

Not to sway you (bc honestly I like my unique setup) but I'd look at something very close to it.P
Thanks Sid. I always value your input. This is not a decision I will make quickly. Going to spend the next two months researching this decision. I will be carefully looking at optimizing VE. I will be targeting 550 rwhp with the widest possible power band.

The GTX 35 will shine above 20-22 psi and really gets going around 28 but for lower boost levels a regular GT 35 will do pretty much the same peak numbers with a little better spool.
The billet wheels work best at high boost.

If you decide to go Garrett GT series, I'd seriously look into an HTA version.

Regarding billet wheels is that only for garretts or all brands with billet wheels?

The benefit to billet wheels is the integrity at high speed and pressure resistance. In other words the blades don't flex as badly as cast wheels. That's how you can get away with smaller wheels trying to flow like bigger wheels.

So I'd say all billet wheels...

Also Shawn, I've been watching guys running the Borg Warner turbos put up some good hp.

I have the gt3582 HTA, its an amazing turbo. Lag is very min. and it pulls to no end. Pole has it right about the GTX vs the GT.

The GTX3076R/1.06 should flow about the same as a GT3582R/0.82 by using a slightly more efficient turbine and should spool slightly better thanks to the smaller compressor (=lighter) wheel. Transient response should be slightly better too.

Chris White has all the info. Feel free to get whatever info. you want from him regarding my car. He will know which car it is just from the turbo since its the first one he used on the 951.

0.82 and I will try to go with the bigger hotside in the spring. I did not want lag but the car responds so well that I think the bigger hotside wont be a problem. I think the turbo was an excellent choice for me but remember we built the car with all the components to match as best they can and the turbo was in a way experimental since we knew of nobody who has used it for this application. The head was D ported, valves, JME cam, stand alone, SFR headers, which Jon Miledge suggested, ... likely helped. All the components work well together.
Chris has built many of these cars and he would be able to give you a good answer from comparisons but he did tell me that he was very impressed with this turbo and bought one for himself.
Yes, I am very curious about the 1.06 and I will try it in spring I need to call TIAL and get the hotside.

Also, I have a turbonetics 60 with the F1 wheel and cant say what it will do with a 3 liter but JME told me that it would be very responsive and a good choice. I did not use it on my 3l but I can tell you that when I had this on my 2.5 it was a great turbo and my car was wounded at the same time.
As far as Evergreen turbo, I cant say enough about charlie and his work. He made me turbo, k27 based with a Holset hifi, with the hotside modified and it worked well. I dont think he is much into BB turbos.

Thanks for this info, very helpful. Your motors sounds awesome! Corleone ran 1.06 A/R. He obviously matched things quite well. What is your CR?
