Default Lindsey AOS Upgrade Mod Question

I'm getting ready to install the AOS 1" upgrade from Lindsey (kept it stock when I put on the LR catch can, but it seems there's too much pressure and the hose keeps popping off. It's this little thing here: http://www.lindseyracing.com/LR/Pors...-CCBK-1UP.html

Is there anything wrong with just leaving the AOS installed when I do the mod? I know I risk some plastic shavings getting in when I cut out the center, but I REALLY don't want to have to remove the turbo so I can get that bottom AOS bolt out.

Who's done the mod - any tips/feedback?

I did mine with it out of the car, Yea I suppose you can do the mod in the car but your gonna get plastic in your engine so probably not a good idea... What hose are you blowing off from too much pressure??

The hose from the AOS separator to the catch can. Probably could just clamp it down tighter, but hey - figured I may as well do it "right".

If your gonna do it right I'd remove the whole thing and install it and replace the AOS seals while your in there, Install the 1" adapter is easy just remember to seal it with RTV

Check your hose routing again, the hose shouldn't be popping off.

Not much to the hose routing, right? Just straight from the AOS to the catch can?

Not sure I follow... the LR catch can is just a single line, from the AOS to the catch can - the only other line off the catch can is the drain valve.

Ok, I was off. On my catch can it has another line to the MAF tube to draw vacuum.

LR have a breather tank where the AOS goes straight to the tank and it vents to atmosphere through a little filter.

A Catch Can is a sealed can where the air from the AOS goes into the can, cooles down and catches the oil and the air goes back into the intake.

Ah ok, that makes sense; didn't realize there was a difference in the terms.

I don't know that I'd risk getting those plastic shavings in the oil pan. They are large and could partially block the sump.

There's no pressure coming out of the hose unless your rings are completely shot. I would be looking for other reasons for the hose to be popping off. Is it too short, or could some engine movement be tugging at it?

If you do end up pulling the AOS, make sure to replace the turbo oil drain vent hose while you're in there too... that this is old and crusty by now. Just cut off the metal crimp collar and replace the hose with the LR silicone hose.

That mod is kind of a pain, not worth it in my opinion.

It's worth it if your doing other things in that area, I did the 1" upgrade when I swapped turbos, Also did a Venturi delete and replaced the speed/reference sensor all at the same time

Agree... If you are already pulling the Turbo, take care of everything AOS-related. Otherwise, leave it be.
