Default Hand Brake Cover

I'm wanting to pull the hand brake cover off to re-dye the leather, two questions:

1) Does it just pull off over the handle end?
2) Can I get it out w/o taking out the seat?

Thanks all.

Yes. It comes out without removing the seat.

If you screw it up let me know. I've got an extra in good shape I've been wanting to get rid of.

Thanks guys.

So E, I just pull the cover forward over the handle? Does the handle come off? I unscrewed the button but it appeared that the part I actually put my hand on (handle) was integral to the whole assembly?

Ausgeflippt, I may well take you up on that offer.

Before:

Waiting for paint to cure on the button. In that pic it looks like there is still some black showing through on the stitching but it's actually just loose threads.

Installed pic tomorrow

Greg, I hate to be the one to tell you this, but sometimes an intervention is needed, before one can recognize a problem, so I've gathered all of your friends and family. We aren't trying to hurt you. We're telling this, because we care. So here goes.

Someone has clearly been sitting in your driver's seat. It's no longer perfect.

It's okay buddy. Sit in that chair. I know this is a lot to take in a once. Deep breaths....DEEEEEP Breaths.....

Sorry. didn't see this. I thought it was one pice. You can remove the leather, but it looks like you've got it.

DUUUUDE!
One thing at a time! I thought we talked about this with the intervention counselor. If he goes back on the junk, it's on you! You! Dammit!

Greg-- looks great. I'm assuming you just dyed with it on the brake?

I did laugh for two reasons:

1) elliott hit it right on the head: your seat is no longer perfect!!!!! Stop driving the car are you nuts??

2) you have obviously run out of stuff to touch so you've resorted to mucking with the ebrake handle. Well regardless, I must thank you because you have inspired me some more. First the help with the door panels, now this....

My name is Greg and I have a problem...

Funny thing is, I ended up pulling the seat out (to install a variable temperature seat heater switch from a 993, more on that in a different post) and thought to myself "Hmmm, might be time for a new dye-job next summer."

Rest assured that while the car might be perty, it ain't no hangar queen, it even, gasp!, knows the way to the local Wal-Mart. It amuses me to load it with bags, not too often that it's not the slinkiest grocery getter in the lot, lol.

Edit: To answer ausgeflippt, yes, dyed it on the handle, just taped off the black bits. My wife now has a slightly champagne arm rest on one of the (safely parked) patio chairs, oops...

What the hell did you do to the door panels? Did I miss something?...not like that would be unusual.

You're inspiring me to start working on my interior again. Yanked the dash yesterday. Hopefully it will be getting boxed up today to go back to Mr. Budd. Going to pull the seats sometime this week, pull out all the carpet and install some jute. While the carpet is out, I'm going to install the new headliner - going with microfiber this time. I've already drilled out most of the screw holes and installed nutserts. No more stripped screws for the sun visors!

Now I need to find someone who's selling a really nice black carpet set. I'm still not happy with the World Upholstery rear seat/floor carpet. Out of that whole set, the only thing worth while is the front seat carpet.

Curt, What was the issue with the backseat carpet. I was thinking of going with them, so all the info you can give me would be appreciated.
