Default Motor Mount Options

My motor mounts are looking pretty rough. Thinking about replacing them before I install my motor but do not really want to pay $225/each. Any good alternatives? Thoughts? TIA

Anyone ever use these? I have read Genuine OEM is best but what say you?

I remember researching this when I was planning to do mounts and the general consensus was that aftermarket mounts would fail very quickly.

I just bought one from AutoAtlanta this week for around $125.. I haven't received it yet, but was told it was exactly the same as OEM and was fluid filled the same as the Genuine Porsche.

I'd give Travis at Rennbay a call. He's got a good line on parts. Also, try Halsey Import in Portland, OR. They're just a parts house, but they have freakisly good prices most of the time and they'll ship the same day if you call them early enough. Their phone # is 503-256-0182. They don't have a website to speak of, but they've beaten some prices pretty hard in the past... in fact, I want to say I ordered motor mounts from them years ago for my old NA and I think they were like $50 or so. And they're the real deal too, not some crap aftermarket knock-off. The best example of their awesome prices I remember was when I needed to replace both MAF sensors on the E39 M5 I used to have... BMW wanted ~$800 a piece for them, NAPA wanted something like $600 a piece, Halsey had them for $120 a piece. Same exact thing NAPA had, same Bosch part number, everything... just $480 less. They don't always have the best prices, but when they do, they're usually pretty awesome. I'd give them a call.

100% Hydraulic Mounts and only 90 bucks, I've used this company for other things and have been very satisfied.

I was thinking that none of the cheap mounts had any fluid in them. I know this subject has been beaten to death....

Search will show that some have had good results with cheap mounts, Rein and Corteco are decent alternatives, and that the genuine porsche mounts are $170.

Just my opinion

See if you can find the Rein automotive mounts, as far as I could tell they are the same as the Porsche mounts with the markings removed. Someone mentioned that they are NLA though.

Yes, me too. I have had a bunch of small issues to sort out. Looks like a bit before it is in as I am going on at Jet Ski trip this weekend.

I read so many posts, regarding why bother with anything other than Porsche motor mounts ... So many said, that the other mounts( Non Porsche) last only a few years ... I just bent over, and bought them from Sunset for 161 each or 322 for the pair ..
After all the work it takes on installing them, I frankly wouldn't want to take a chance with the non Porsche ones ...
And I throw nickles around like they are manhole covers
regards

Thanks Eddie. Probably right.

Anyone used LR Ultra Mounts? Talked to Dave Lindsey about them today.

I have tried various after market mounts. I am back to using OEM mounts as they perform the best.

I bought the cheapest mounts that Zims sells and put them in my 3.0L build. I actually bought them before I bought my car in 2008. They are still holding up after 6000km.

I will post if they ever fail.......A set of LR semi solid are sitting in the basement as backup.

Have run the LR super mounts for many years on the race car with no issues. Great mounts but not necessary for a street car. Porsche mounts are great and last.

Conversely, prior to that, I used the aftermarket "OEM" mounts which turned out to be solid and only lasted a few months.

When I challenged the "OEM" statement, I was told they were, as defined by "Original Equipment Manufacturer" or a manufacturer who supplies to a car company. Not that the parts are identical to those supplied to Porsche. It cost me dearly as the mounts failed, the fan cut through the upper radiator hose. The motor overheated and the cam seized. They offered to replace the original junk with new junk- no thanks. Hard lesson.

I don't know how to tell the solid from hydraulic, they look identical on the outside. Only when they break in half can you see they are solid.

About 8 years ago for my old car, I bought from pelican oem aftermarket ones and they lasted one year. Go with the Porsche ones.
