A/C leak, what seal is this, what to replace ?
Friday I had a shop recharge the A/C with 2 cans of R12 I happened to have. A/C was ICE cold all weekend like it used to be and this morning there is some greenish / yellow oil leaking out the fitting near the top drivers side of the condenser (see pix). I'm the second owner and as far as I know the entire A/C system is original.
Question, what do I need to do to fix this leak and as I don't have any more R12 I'd like to convert to 134. Is it just a matter of;
1. Recovering the gas/oil
2. Replacing the seals
3. Changing the line fittings
4. Vacuum test for leaks
5. Full charge with 134
I'm not all that thrilled with having to rebuild the compressor. What would you recommend?
What do you think of this?

I would highly recommend replacing the 4 seals under that compressor plate as well. It isn't a big deal to drop the compressor out to replace those, then do the 2 at the hose connections, 2 at the drier (replace the drier if going to r134a, they are cheap)
944.126.935.01 are the 4 for the plate.
999.707.247.40 are the drier seals

I replaced those o-rings and changed the easy hose with an updated one from pelican (griffiths). I used to recharge at least every summer. Now am going on 3 or 4 summers without adding much if any r12. With the R12 freon this a/c system blows colder than all but the most complete 134 retro jobs. Every shadetree retro job I've seen is a downgrade from the factory system on this car. For a fraction of the price, sealing your system up will result in much better performance. If you're worried about R12 availability, I got licensed to buy it legally for like $25 via an online course, and there is an ample supply on eBay (not that you'll need much if you seal the system well). Just my 2 cents...

PS...Theres a lot I haven't seen but a $3 thermometer is hard to argue with. I've had a license for 30 years but have never been carded.
