Default moore 944 drag racing

i spent all day down at the track for MRA practice day. most friday nights the track has friday night drags. since i work for the track they let me run for free temps were really really hot all day 100+!!!! temp had to be around 90+f between 6-7pm. track elevation is 4803 ft and DA of 8325 ft.

the only thing my car has is 3" exhaust, spec stage 3 and a boost controller set at 17psi(on gauge). 8 yr old 225 tires in the back gutted with cage. car weighs around 2800 lbs with driver. i was being easy with the transmission cuz i still had to drive the car home.

this is my first time drag racing... my times were dropping as it got cooler. got 4 runs in. best time is 14.68 at 96.18. highest mph is 98mph and best 60 foot is 2.0.

sry no pics or video

It's pretty hot today in MD...around 102 for high. Up there 90-100 deg is just too hot to get any good time with heat soak issue in between runs. I would think mid to low 14s is doable in a stock set up considering a relatively low weight. That altitude + heat is killing ya. I used to drag race my honda civic daily driver with a dohc zc swap...best i did was 15.5 @ 89 mph. All of you guys racing in denver make me want to take the 951 to the track again especially since I haven't done the 1320 with it before.

i suggest using a different car to drag race with. With all do respect of course, but your car and pocket will thank you later.

Really?

I have over 90 passes on my car now with only 1 broken cv shaft.

Just because many have failed in the past does not mean it cannot be done effectly.

As a matter of fact, I made it to quarter finals at the only competition I entered with the car. I only didn't make it further due to leaving early. The car ran so consistent the whole day and in my last round the car ran right on the number.

I don't see your point....

these cars are not designed for drag racing. That is my professional opinion and my point. You can spend 1/3 the cost and run into the low 10's on a non GERMAN car. If you have the money and time, do what you want and what you like. If you make less than 30k a year, dont drag race your 944 turbo.

If you make less than 30k you won't be racing a low ten second car either.

I have less than 8k in my whole car. It is a DD and runs right with many vettes, camaros, subaroos, Evo's, etc.

Say what you will but it does just fine. It may not run low tens but for 8k not much else does either. I always get a kick out if people saying these cars can't be drag raced.

Why interject on someone's fun thread??

Who are you?? I don't really care who you are it's rude to tell someone they shouldn't do something.

So, it's a yay, or nay drag race thread? I've seen tons of people drag race worse, break more, spend more. Drag race all you want. I don't know what production car was MADE / Engineered to drag race. Name one.
