This is my transmission. An 86 turbo trans with cooler with a 3/8 adapter plate so that the early mounts can attach. Had to elongate one of the mount holes to match. I have been running with this setup for 3 years now without a problem.
If your trans doesn't have the cooler, then the bolt bosses should still be there. If it does, copy my plate thing.
Early cars had welded nuts in the body frame member that the trans hangs from, so to drop the trans you just remove 2 17mm bolts.

Well it's been in the car for 3 years now...maybe I can get a camera under there in the morning. It looks kind of like a waterpump actually, just shaped to cover several of the bolts on the diff cover, with one additional larger one tapped into a blind boss in the diff cover as well.
Just a note - my car IS an early NA body, so you would have to add provisions (nuts) for these mounts to work on a late car..

In another simulation against a 2005 Civic Si, similar weight to 944NA, nearly identical transmission ratios to NA, and 160HP, the turbo box's long 3rd gear put the 944 ahead...

Not so much - I have done extensive simulations against other 944 NAs with NA transmissions and they are even until the top of 2nd gear when mine pulls ahead. Maybe because my engine is fresher than theirs, but time after time the simulations show mine is faster.
