Let's try this again! After I got screwed out of a title on the white shell, I picked up John's (vette951s) '92 968 6spd midnight blue coupe shell in Redding, CA. This is a much better platform to start with since it has all the body pieces and a title! I do have to say I do like the midnight blue color, but I will still probably paint the car.
Also picked up a cam from him which will go nicely with my engine.

Loaded and ready to roll:

He finally did get back to me again and said that he didn't care and I should find another way to get a title.

Alex- It was great to finally meet you and especially good to hear you made it home with the car without issue! I will be following your build thread to watch you build 'My' dream 968 racer into a great road and track Porsche.

Good Luck! John

Stripping the interior, as many know, is a major PITA! Very strong adhesive remover and a $15 harbor freight oscillating tool have helped tremendously. Still have many more hours to spend but I'm making progress.

is this going to be a track car or just a nice cruiser? What kind of sound deadening are you going with?

Track car that's street legal. Interior will be completely stripped and then painted. No carpet or dampening. I've daily driven cars that are stripped and it's not that bad

I don't know... My standards for the in-car experience are pretty low (I've had some cars with miserable interior issues), but when I ride in my brother's VW GTI with stripped interior, I can't stand it. But that's a DD, maybe a track car with occasional street use could be tolerable.

How much weight does this save? I'm currently building a street legal 951 track car.

Mainly been cleaning/blasting/powdercoating every part of the engine recently getting it ready for assembly. Haven't made much progress on bodywork. Scored an insane deal on a new blast cabinet through Boeing's surplus auction site. Got this for $300. It's 4'Wx2'Dx1.5'H working area and made up from ~$1k worth of 6061-T6 aircraft grade aluminum mounted on Bosch aluminum extrusion. Now I just need a larger oven for powdercoating even larger things!

Just a little bit bigger than my old cabinet that's sitting on my oven

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn. That's one nice blast cabinet. Boeing has a surplus auction site? That sounds like something that would make me spend entirely too much money buying stuff I don't need (but is awesome none the less).
