Tony, the same thing just happened to my car. You can still open the door with the interior handle, right? In my case, it was the piece in the lower left corner of DP's photo here that broke. I got a replacement on ebay for like $10-15. It takes like 5 min to get it all apart, but getting the little pin out is kinda a pain. I think I found a writeup on here about it.

Hello obd812
The roll pin can be gently pulled out with some small snips or tap out gently with a small punch or drill bit , support the underneath area so that the handle metal doesn't bend.

Some of the 968 handles have e clips, some have a pin with rolled securing edge ,this edge must be ground off before attempting to press the pin out.

(same as the finger lever in both 944 and 968 ). Dp951

I'm not sure if mine is 968-style. The handles certainly aren't 968 style, but one end of the pin has a head and the other end is rolled. I've spent about 15 min with a punch and a small hammer with no luck, but it looks like I'm making progress. It's a little too tight in there to try to grind it with a dremel.

Default 944 /968 door handle repair Dp951

The best way is too grind off the top edges of the pin, the push out, most 944 and 968 finger triggers have the top rolled to secure .. the levers are roll pins or they use the E clips ( some 968 ive seen have to be also ground down )

Just take your time ... you can also drill the top off ... BUT don't force it , until you remove the top portion, and it will come out with almost no force .
