Default 951 LS6 Corner Balance Results

I corner balanced the LS6 951 today.

One with no driver, about 5 gallons of fuel.

The other with a 185lbs driver and the same approximate 5 gallons of fuel.

awesome weight distribution, but a question - what have you done to strip weight from your 951? i cant recall from my little visit years ago. how heavy is your cage? i am curious because my car with me (235lb) in it and a quarter tank (~4gal) weighs 10lb more than yours. i am considering a partial cage so i want to know where i'd end up.

How extensive is your cage Tony? Does it go through the firewall? Apparently those Welt sways weight a ton too but I guess as low down as they are isn't the worst position.

Spencer, the question really is, what have you done to take weight out?! 2740 is pretty light for a street 944.

Well that's why! Cages can easily weigh a couple hundred pounds...

Doc -- which rollbar do you have? Are you happy with it? I really should get myself one (I've been holding out in order to keep things stock).

Custom made welded rollbar from Hanksville Hotrods. He builds most of the Spec 944 cages in town. Unlike the bolt in rollbars, mine is mounted to the frame rails front and rear, so it's structural, not single layer steel.

That does appear to be heavy. My weight, with a cage and no driver was 2630. I raced with 100 pounds of ballast and an extra 5 gallons of gas just to make GT3 HP/WT of 11 to 1. That was steel panels, stock rear window, stock rear bumper, lexan windscreen, sound deadening removed from the inside. We left the rear bumper in place because we needed the weight, especially in back. I will be weighing it out in it's new configuration with LS6 and expect it to be significantly south of that.

removed the rear seat top half, replaced all the carpet/insulation with lighter stuff, removed PS hardware, went to manual sunroof, hatch motor, headlight washers, aftermarket cat, no cruise control...i think there was no AC compressor/condensor at this time as well.

insulation is HEAVY. other than that car has full interior...

that figure was before my crash/repair though. don't know what its at now - my front end is similar to the factory design but all the material is thicker (stock would be something like a 15-gauge steel, my rails are 14-ga) but there is less stuff up there than originally. plus the 951 bumper vs the NA bumper may be different. i might get a chance to re-weigh later today and report back.

Good corner weights Tony. That will be very nice. LS6951 is the TX license plate I have just applied for. I bet I dont get it because ECLOU has probably taken it. That's ok.. I know where he lives.
