Ok, It will be a K&N since there are many shapes and sizes, esp having on with an angled flange.

What I will need to make it fit better is a longer piece of puricil. I need a 4" piece of 2.75" diameter.

I started to call for a longer piece a while back and it seemed most vendors had them already cut and shorter. Does anyone know where I can get longer pieces?

Thanks
Steve

I run a very fine mesh screen wrapped around the end of the maf housing with the opening right up against the cold air hole in the fender.

Never had any issues and it flows even better than k and n.

I had a foam Pipercross intake on my E36 for a while, then I went to clean it one day and found that the foam was not longer there. I found a lot of it on the MAF screen but I have to assume that engine ingested some as well. I will never again run a foam filter on any car I own.

Well with the longer piece of silcone and a better sized K&N with an angled flange. It fits perfect could not be happier.

Also helps to have the correct size filter. The one SFR sent with my intake was the wrong size diameter and a really too tight a fit.

As soon as my harness gets here I can get started.

I had a question, I moved my ICV is it a problem being closer to the turbo as far as heat.

Lol I guess I got bored waiting for my harness.

I really don't remember why, I think to make it easier to get to the spark plug wires and make it easier to route my plug wires under the intake. My setup has 4 coils located by the battery, I have the wires running behind the firewall and entering the engine bay behind the intake.

there should be a heat shield there, or get a turbo blanket.

BTW you intake pipe looks quite skinny?

Anyone have a pic of the heat sheild that goes there?

Not sure about the intake diamter being too skinny, it might be.. The K27 turbo inlet and the intake are the same diameter 2.75". Never really thought about it. Not sure if the reduction a foot from the turbo would make a big difference. The diamter where the filter is 3.5".

Thanks
Steve

wouldn't have a clue if you gain but IMO the more air you can draw the better!

Thanks Pauly,

It is cooming back to me now. I will place that heatsheild back on , no problem. It was the larger heat sheild that supported the rear of the intake that was not on the engine before it was installed. I was not able to get it on, but only the rear support bracket that fits over it.

Will it be a problem running with out it, esp on the track. I really would not like to remove the down pipe to get it on.

Steve

Edit I did manage to get on the small sheild Pauly pictured above, without pulling the AN coolant fittings for the turbo. Thankful for ratchet wrenches.
