To each their own. For some it's about the journey , not the destination. I personally don't find it very intriguing to do the swap. No disrespect intended, truly, I am just personally enjoying the journey. I can fully understand both sides and why one would choose either. In the end as long as we all enjoy what we build I think we can all appreciate these cars for what we make them to be.
Not trying to be a smart ***, just being real.
Your build is obviously quite a journey as well and I certainly respect that.

The difference is that I've already spent well over $100k on my 951 engine journey... as have many other people. And you get to the point that no matter how much you spend..... the journey always ends the same. Some day you will reach the same conclusion.
No matter... it's only money. You can't take it with you.
For me... I'm done. I need big bullet-proof power, on 91 pump gas. That just can't be had with a 951 engine no matter how much $ you throw at it.

congratulations. that's like 505 hp at the crank ?
touché.
you can make the Monza 2.5 litre I-4 engine work too,
of course, no one ever bothered becuase
1. (the engine) didn't come with the name Porsche stamped on it, and appropriately, disappeared into obscurity...
2. it was just easier to order the car with the SBC.

Nice, it took my V8 4.0 Turbo Supra 10 about 9psi to get that power level!
I do like the idea of picking a chassis and just developing it. At the end of the day you get the chassis right, you can get the power and trans you like one way or another.

I don't know about that rational...
I'd be more apt to try to make good power out of the iron duke now than futz with the 262 v8 honestly. After building some monster v8's (north of 2500hp ) it really just becomes more about maximizing the potential of either.
It's all fun but some have other thoughts in regard to why.
Plus, as Americans, we were completely oblivious to technology. "Bigger is better" is the American way. Meanwhile, Japanese and Europeans were making great strides maximizing powerplants. We are just now catching up really.
The ls engines are fantastic IMO and if I were to do a swap, it would have to be a twin turbo or something outrageous to satisfy my brain.
It's very hard to explain, and I'm sure you won't get it, but I think there are others feeling the same. It has nothing to do with the brand machines into the engine. It'd be the same if I played with Hondas I'm sure. Thank goodness that's not the case.
I digress...
Tony, excellent numbers. Nice, fun, easy racer you have there!!!

**larger displacement in high output engines seems to be making a comeback.
