It looks like the glass can shift during shipping. Is it a snug fit in the box or does it move around?

OK. I have concluded that about 90% of the time that I look at the top, I can't tell that it is tinted bronze. Unless you are standing right next to it in direct sunlight, you will not be able to tell that it is bronze. And then, even when you are right next to it, it barely looks bronze. I can't complain about the tint at all. I really don't think that the tint could ruin the look of any car no matter what color the car is.

The black strips you see in the boxes are sticky, so no it cant move. It sticks quite firmly.

I've filled out the contact sheet at www.pilkingtonclassics.com this morning.
Hope to receive an answer soon! I really love the pictures so far.

I called back today (Monday) to get my order number. They said they were inundated (that's good) and will try to ship the backlog this week. They don't charge until the item ships and apparently they don't routinely send an email order confirmation.

If less than 100 orders is "inundated" then they have issues. My order was placed 2 mins after they opened last Tuesday and have not received any information at all.

I'm with fejj. I was told by someone else that trying to run all the orders made their system crash. The re entering the orders and will shop sometime this week.

I was told the same....too many orders and they were overwhelmed. The only thing I can think of is that they were building/assembling as orders arrived, because boxing 100 orders should take a day or two tops.

Regardless, thanks to those that posted pictures, it took the sting of bronze off as it doesn't look as bad as I thought.

So are you guys getting these shipped fedex 3 day or something?

While I share most of the frustrations expressed here, it may be helpful to offer some perspective:

Pilkington's perspective is that they essentially re-issued these tops as a "favor" to the 944 community. They were approached by stephens601, who persuaded them to build these. Yes, they are making money off this deal but it is not their normal business. Do I wish they would do a better job of communicating? Yes, absolutely. I'm a marketing guy, this is what I do and I am as frustrated as everyone else.

However, keeping my eye on the prize, I believe that I will be getting a shiny new glass top for my car within a week or so, for a pretty reasonable price and that's pretty cool.

So, at this point I think we just have to either accept that this is how this deal is getting done, goofy as it may be, or elect not to do business with them and drive around in darkness...

We all should just be patient and wait a week or 2 so they can actually do the things and hopefully if they do produce the grey ones they do a better job either way we all waited almost 2 years for these what is another week or 2 and they weren't prepared to have so many callers basically from different parts or the country and world calling and asking information lets all calm down here and be a bit more patient once more like how we were when we all wanted them to produce them again but at least now we know for sure that they did produce them again with fellow friends posting pictures keeping our hopes up in one day coming home from work or school and having that box from Pilkington Classics waiting for us to open like kids on Christmas morning and thanks for all those pictures and post of updates to fellow friends on here
