The name is retarded, but it could be a sound concept.

I have the id1000 on my car, it makes tuning a bit more straightforward, and quicker. Seems sensible to use a properly calibrated set of injectors.

Is that on the 2.5 or 3L motor Rod? Any reason for going with the 1000's? Seems that a lot of people are running the larger ones, mostly for E85.

That was on the 2.5, no problems with flow, no problems with them at all, you don't have to guess at the calibration

That's a neat headgasket. looks like it could withstand a lot more boost

I was actually looking into those injectors because i wanted something bigger then 800cc

I think they were quoting $289 per gasket. I certainly hope they work well. So far I've been happy with the std cometic. I'm pretty sure I'm pushing it pretty hard with the compression and boost I'm running. So far this is my favorite setup.

Yep, that's the price I got too Sid. We found that by changing to some new ARP headstuds we were able to get a longer lifespan out of the Cometics. To expand, with the old stock studs we were having to change them over after 2-3 racedays which is clearly pretty crap. After changing to new studs I think we got about 4 meetings and perhaps a couple of mid week test days. When Sean put this motor back in the car we decided to change the h/g again. It was about to blow had we left it so that was a good idea. I'm thinking it might be worth trying one of these Phuzions again depending on what lifespan we get out of this current normal one after the new ECU tune and shakedowns that I hope to be doing next month. Decided to switch to these ID2000's. Going to have to get a different fuel rail knocked up quickly. What injs are you using Sid?

Paulyy, might be worth considering either/both of these products too. Can you log inj duty cycle?

With you guys blowing HG's left, right and centre, that'd be a great field comparison to what's already been tried and tested.

There's also this type. http://www.928motorsports.com/parts/gcs_head_gasket.php

Apparently the Phuzion is somewhat tricky to install.

I've used a Phuzion gasket on a 2.5l build in the past. It lasted pretty long (2 seaons) before it slowly started to pressurize the coolant.
It's not tricky to install. The rings are loose though which might be why it can be thought to be tricky, but in reality it's not.

I have used the Phuzion – it works as advertised but the O rings are a single use and the replacement cost of the Orings are 90% the cost of the gasket. The bore size is a very limited range.

when i buy a LMA-2 for my LM-2 i can log duty cycles from that since it's a pulse. i've given up on the lm-2 to log rpm so that's my reason for the LMA-2. But I'm waiting on my chip update when josh finishes it so i can set my boost properly, i'm not sure if i hit boost cut or the "map sensor error" when i hit boost so it just sits at 17psi and my waste gate opens at 12 psi.

I'm not sure how long my head gasket is going to last but it's new-ish now, 2010 march.
If you get it with better then stock results i'll replace mine with one of those.

So is the consensus that the Phuzion is better? Or should I say, lasts longer?

The clamping force and distribution on our motors is a limiting factor. The headstuds are spaced out and there's not a lot of them nor any way of increasing them. In addition we have floating cylinders (unless deckplate or MID etc). I'm guessing either through high cylinder pressure &/or poor clamping we're seeing these Cometic h/g's breaking down. Seems like there might be a small amount of headlift and the cylinders can then vibrate which is causing some abrasion that eventually leads to failure of the seal. At least that's my poorly educated guess.

These pics are off another motor, not mine, but essentially similar results.
