Question The cost of rebuilding an 86 944T engine?

Hi there, I guess my car is moving to the downside of a engine's life..cos there is some noise coming from the engine when I cold start the car(it disappears when the car run for 1-2 mins) and the sound is like tic..tic...tic...and my mechanic told me that it's the connection between the piston and rod has became loosen..so there is vibration when the car cold starts since the engine oil didn't reach that area yet...!(I dun know if it's true, cos I dun have experience with Porsche) So, I am just wondering how much is it to rebuild a 944t engine(roughly)?? and since I live in Canada(Toronto) so , a shop nearby is appreciated.
Thanx A LOT!
Happy Motoring!

i had a noise like that and it turned out to be a exhaust leak at one point where the exhaust manifold bolts to the head and because i did not fix quick enough i burnt one of my ehaust valves.

thanx for the advices.
my car has 135000km om it...
so, i need to rebuild the engine in order to fix the lifter, right?? Cos it's a internal thing, so I cannot only fix the lifter problem(it's not cost effective by just fixing the lifter problem, right?)

Absolutely not. A lifter on a 944T is on top of the engine. It is a very easy thing to remove the cam tower, test for, then replace a bad lifter. If the belts haven't been done recently you might consider doing them also, but it is no where near an engine rebuild. Lifters are in the 40-60USD range. Definitely go for a second opinion from another mechanic. The difference is a few thousand US dollars.
