a couple suspension Questions
I am looking at the koni coilover kit. http://www.paragon-products.com/Coil...ni_cup_kit.htm
and I am wondering if you have to run camber plates with it or can you use the stock ones?
also, are the 2.5" springs narrower than the stock ones? Will they allow for more wheel clearance up front because my new wheels are a bit close to the stock spring?
Also, would you recommend this kit? Would you remove the rear torsion bars or leave them in? What spring rates would you run. I was thinking 600lb up front, 500 lb rears? I just want it to be stiff and prevent very much roll and rear end sag.
thanks

I think you left your questions pretty open for any answer under the sun Dillon. I would preface the post with what type of use the car will be put through, how harsh of a ride are you willing to put up with...yadayadayada.
Other than that I'm also sure the debate has gone back and forth on leaving the torsion bars in. My dad opted to leave his in for safety issues. They are set in a nuetral position so they don't interfere with the suspension but would "catch" the car if that rear shock bolt were to snap.
Search is also your friend. Good luck Dillon!

I believe you can use your own strut bearing since the front half of that kit is just inserts. And it's using this kit for height and spring perch.

600 up front is WAY stiff for the front...
I deleted my torsion bars and went with 300F/500R. Perfect for me, and almost too much for my wife.
I don't quite understand leaving the torsion bars in for "safety." If the lower shock bolt snaps, and the rear falls onto a "neutral" torsion bar, I highly doubt it will be enough to keep the car from bottoming out on the wheel.
If you have specific questions about their products, give Paragon a call. Chuck or Jason will have the answers you need (they are 944 people!)

More important than stupid shocks and struts...
What oil will you be using?
(Yes the two questions are almost the same IMHO)
600/500 .... would work on a track car WITH torsion bars ... if the shacks / struts are valved for it... as teh Konis are valved from Koni I think those spring rates are a bit high for the dampers selected... but this is just an opinion.
600/500 is WAY high for street use (MOST people think my car is too stiff running 300/TB on Konis set mid stiff), but hey I like a stiff suspension...
I would advise you to ride in as many different 951s (different suspension setups) as you can before you decide... as you only want to buy this stuff ONCE!

To echo what others have said, 600# is a bit high for the street -- this is a very common stiffness for track cars. Definitely make sure you get proper damping for those springs. From my experience, Konis tend to be a bit under-valved.
My street setup is 350# front coilovers + 30mm TB, and I like it a lot. I used to live in Boston where the roads are abhorrent and let's just say this suspension setup was terrible. My '95 4runner (original shocks) had the correct approximate stiffness. Now, for Norther VA where I currently live, the roads are typically in much better shape, so my suspension isn't a problem at all.
For the record, I really enjoy my setup for the track as well. It's softer than I'd like, but I'm not willing to compromise for the street.

well if you want to know what was on that car before....
koni front struts w/ paragon coilover sleeve kit- 2.5" springs x8" 450lb with koni coilover rears with 2.5" 500lb springs and torsions deleted- racers edge coilover mounting kit is a must.
MO30 968 front and rear sways.
travis at rennbay has the rear coilovers....

hahahaha!!!!600 FRONT! I hope you have a best friend who is a dentist...and a chiropracter! Listen to what Darwin and Joka said above. EVEN with proper valving, you are 250 to 400 high on the front, for a road car. I ran 350/550 with no torsion bars, using bilsteins. I had to literally dodge manholes and pot holes. The rear wasn't as bad as the front, but I wouldn't do it again, for a road car. I only went with 550 rear because of the T-bar delete. You have to account for the loss of the spring (t-bar) rate and then do the math to come up with your desired total rear spring weight. Search will have top be your friend. There are VOLUMES on this subject, just in the 944 turbo section, alone.
