I just installed a manual boost controller inmy 86 944 turbo and am wondering how much pressure it can handle or what steeing would be a good idea?

If the rest of your car is stock then IMHO 14 psi max, there are other things to address such as fuel mixture before you can turn up the boost or your head gasket won't last long.

More boost = more power but you have to make sure you account for things like the extra fuel needed to run at higher boost levels or you end up with a blown head or worse. There are several good mod kits (such as the one from Guru that I have on my car) that will increase the boost AND take of the extra fuel needed to keep things running smoothly.

When i had the stock Turbo in my '86, I couldn't go more than 17PSI on 93 octane.

Good Luck,

the ONLY reason to turn up the boost (aka move more air) is so that you can burn more fuel.

power is made at a stoichometric air/fuel ratio. you need 12.5 parts of air to every part of fuel.

otherwise you go lean and make heat instead of power or you go rich and wash you cylinder walls
